Episode 22: The Summer of George

Episode #156; 8:22

Our Summary

George begins his summer by decompressing, which means doing nothing really. Kramer is a seatfiller at the Tony's, and ends up getting a Tony. However, he is found by the producers who will only let him keep it if he fires the star of the show, Raquel Welch, whom he tries, and she beats him up. She later finds Elaine and beats her up, whom she thought was making fun of her b/c she doesn't move her arms when she walks, when she was in fact explaining to the policemen what her coworker, played by Molly Shannon, does, and was acting insanely to Elaine b/c of it. Finally, George is being Jerry's relationship intern, but slips on the invitation for the party she was throwing, putting him out of commission.

Our Commentary

This Top 50 ep that closes out Season Eight is hilarious. Kramer has some hilarious lines in this ep, from his Ddddddd Catfight, to watching the sun rise at Liza's, Minellis?, uh no!, telling a bunch of people at some fancy theater restaurant that he told Arthur Miller to change the title of The Death of a Salesman, and finally, when he confronts Racquel Welch, the following hilarious line: "Well, it seems that due to the vagaries of the production parameters of this fragmenting of the audience to the cable television, carnivals, water parks". Great stuff with "he frolfs, he scores" and the whole linking of Jerry shaving his chest, Doc Wexler and invitations. Overall, a solidly hilarious episode. Adam - Top 50 ep, funny solid, and even stolid for that matter. Kramer did an excellent job in this episode with his vagaries and other crazy words he uses to Racquel Welch, the Tony was taking him to Sardy's, a link back to 8:21 The Muffin Tops, with did you shave your chest, Summer of George, let the juices drip down his chin, and many many others. Overall, a great ending to the best season.

Overall, this season was nice, can I buy you? We had some great and memorable eps in this beauty of a beaut of a season. We had some memorable characters in their first ever eps, such as Jimmy Dugan, Wyck Fayer, Walter, Pennypacker, and Peggy, as well as some great and classic scenes such as those found within 8:1 The Foundation - Top 25, 8:3 The Bizarro Jerry - Top 25, 8:6 The Fatigues - Top 20, and 8:21 The Muffin Tops - Top 10. Just look at all of those amazing episodes. This season was unbelievably hilarious, and this being the best season in terms of Top 50 episodes, by having 20 out of 22 episodes is a testament to this, the greatest of seasons. Anyway, we had some laughs. We had some tears. OK, maybe not tears, but we had some laughs. Overall, the season was definitely hilarious. What more can I say?

This season was the greatest. This season was better than every other season, at least in terms of Top 50 eps. 19 episodes made the Top 50 during the 2nd Siyum, then in the 3rd Siyum, we had one 3rd Siyum Addition for 8:7 The Checks, thereby increasing the number to 20 out of 22 episodes, compared to 0 out of 5 episodes in Season 1, 1 out of 12 in Season 2, 8 out of 23 episodes in Season 3, 8 out of 24 episodes in Season 4, 14 out of 22 episodes in Season 5, and 9 out of 24 episodes in Season 6, 10 out of 24 episodes in Season 7 made the Top 50. This is a testament to its greatness. JS, JA, JLD, MR, WK, PB, KP, SM, BB, PC, and HS all did excellent jobs writing and acting, while AA did a great job directing, in these hilarious episodes of Seinfeld. Props all around to all who injected a bit of joy and comedy into the bloodstream of Season 8. That said, let us enter Season 9 together in joy and harmony, b/c although Season 8 did have 20 out of 22 episodes making the Top 50, Season 9 has 16 out of 24, including two Top 5 episodes back to back. In any event, see you there friend of friends.

Adam - Eighth Season is the greatest. Not only the greatest in terms of acting, but in terms of talent. What can I say? (The man is speechless) The episodes were just unbelieveable. True, it had two back to back episodes of crap, 8:12 The Money and 8:13 The Comeback, but I think the fact that it was sandwiched between all at least Top 50 episodes, that says something. It says something. From the beginning of Rosses, "cheese", to the briefcase with Jerry Lewis's idea, to the flush like a jet engine, to Carl Farvman, and on to a shtickle of flouride, holy cow, and of course the Tony took me to Sardy's. This season made me cry. Not from sadness, but from happiness. (In Will Ferrell's imitation of James Lipton's voice from the Old School DVD.) This season is the greatest, as I've said before, and I'll say again. Well done to all, well done to all. 20 out of 22, compared to 0 out of 5 episodes in Season 1, 0 out of 12 in Season 2, 6 out of 23 in Season3, and 5 out of 24 in Season 4, and 12 out of 22 in Season 5, 8 out of 24 in Season 6, and 13 out of 24 episodes in Season 7 made the Top 50.
