Episode 22: The Diplomat's Club

Episode #108; 6:22

Our Summary

Jerry's agent ruins everything for Jerry, Elaine tries to quit her job working for Mr. Pitt, but then gets signed into his will, so she stays. She ends up getting fired b/c his lawyer thinks that she was trying to murder him with Jerry, who gave Pitt the wrong drugs, b/c he thought Jerry worked there. Kramer gambles with Earl Hafler on which planes will depart first, and ends up going on a losing streak, so he has to show some money before going again. He calls up Newman, who brings the mailbag of Son of Sam, as collateral, and Newman becomes Kramer's lucky charm, and Kramer wins big. However, because of Jerry's agent, Jerry gets kicked off the plane, b/c she chewed out the pilot, for merely being in the audience, causing Jerry to freak out b/c she said that the pilot was in the audience. This causes the plane to be delayed, as Elaine tells Kramer and Earl, causing Earl to rip up the check and to be wary when doing future deals with the K-Man. Meanwhile, one of George's bosses, Morgan, thinks that George is a racist b/c he said that he looked like Sugar Ray Leonard, so he tries to show Morgan that he has black friends, meaning he isn't a racist, but as Jerry points out, he doesn't have any white friends either outside of JEK.

Our Commentary

This beauty of a beaut of an ep just barely misses the Top 50. Proctor and Gamble do a terrific job with the extensive linking throughout the ep, both within the ep and throughout Seinfeld as a whole. We get our second Bearded Blackie, who I thought we would have had more of. Maybe we missed him sometimes or maybe he appears more often in the latter seasons or maybe he's just in hardly any episodes. Anyway, back to the ep at hand. Hilarious stuff with George's search for black people, including a backward episode link to Remi and Joe with Katherine Hepburn, and George bringing popcorn this time, because he remembered that not only do they not have it, but they can't understand how people would have it in their homes, another backward episode link with Carl, the Exterminator, and hilarious Jerry line that he doesn't have any black friends, and outside of the JEK, he has no friends. Great stuff with first Katie and her and Jerry's freaking out, first Earl Hafler with his super Houston personality, Jerry saying Di-Tail, another beautiful Mr. Morgan, and hilarious Newman with his Son of Sam bag and that the dogs just tell him to lay off the snacks, budum bum bum. Really important stuff with Mr. Pitt stopping Elaine from quitting by putting her in his will, only to have super connections with Kramer knocking down stuff in the pharmacy, Jerry picking it up and being super pharmacist worker guy, thereby almost killing Mr. Pitt, and then Jerry calling Elaine to go warn Berta that he'll be late, and sounding like she's in a plot to kill Justin, whilst she reads a book of that sort. Hilarious and important when he fires her, with the flashbacks to great Mr. Pitt scenes. Finally, a hilarious and perfect ending with the black busboy saying that Sugar Ray Leonard can eat on the house. Overall, a solidly hilarious episode with some great hilarious important stuff. Adam - Very funny episode. Not good enough to reach the Top 50, but good enough to reach the Top 100. Great linking throughout the episode. Basically, brilliantly executed by those who accompanied it. A great job done by all and had by all for that matter. Tiffany - Adam is currently studying for the SATs, so he's trying to make his sentences sound very mature-like but he can't succeed b/c he thinks that Tiffany is turning 17, when she just had her Sweet 16 a few weeks ago. Thank you for your time and energy.
