Episode 5: The Couch

Episode #91; 6:5

Our Summary

Jerry gets a new couch for his apartment. Elaine dates the guy who delivers it to his apartment, but Jerry ruins that relationship telling Elaine to ask him if he's pro/anti abortion, b/c she's super pro-abortion or pro-choice, so much so, that she causes a ruckus at Poppie's, where Jerry must still pay for the duck, and where Poppie pees on his new couch. George is part of a book club with his gal, but can't read it, so he tries to watch the movie. It's out of the movie store, so he goes to the person who has it, namely a father and daughter. George acts super rude, and ends up spilling grape juice on their couch. He gives them his couch supposedly and he takes Jerry's couch. Kramer tries to make a "make your own pizza" place with Poppie, but it fails b/c of a terriffic parody of the abortion issue.

Our Commentary

Nice OCB starts off this beauty of an ep. which should be proud to be part of the Top 50. Great stuff with "I'm A Poppie, Jerry's constant baiting of Elaine with abortion, Poppie's "A My Mother", and the succulent duck. Remi and Joe are at their peaks in their very first episode, while George is at his best with his constant nagging, nervy behavior, and just downright rude and inconsiderate great self. Great Kramer with his baiting of Elaine and Jerry on Poppie's well being and subsequent, well we're not very close. Finally, great linkage of abortion and pizza. Overall, a beauty of an ep. (Also, I must note here, that Ander, one night while we were in Dougie's in Manhattan this past year, told me that he noticed that the number on the truck in 9:10 The Strike, belonged to the Azzari Bros., which we had written down in the Siyum, but we never realized that it was a hidden joke, referencing Seinfeld Production Designer Tho. E. Azzari. Kudos to Ander. Kudos. (Also, while watching a brand new Siyum with Bruchie, I came across the same truck of the Azzari Bros. here.) Adam - Hilarious episode. Far surpasses 6:4 The Chinese Woman. George is at his peak in this episode. Well done gentlemen and lady, well done.
