Episode 11: The Rye

Episode #121; 7:11

Our Summary

Elaine's boyfriend doesn't like to go downtown, but after Jerry tells Clyde, his backup, that they are hot and heavy, Elaine freaks unneccessarily. When he does go downtown he messes up during his saxaphone audition b/c he didn't do a good job, which ruined his confidence during the gig. The big day has come where the Costanzas and the Rosses meet. Frank takes back the marble rye from Schnitzer's b/c they forgot to serve it, but he thinks they did it on purpose. So, George must figure out how to replace the rye bread. He does so with Jerry and Kramer's help. Jerry is supposed to buy the rye, but the last one is bought by Mrs. Choate, from whom Jerry tries to buy it, but she refuses, so he mugs her for it. Kramer meanwhile bought a ton of food from the Price Club, including a lot of Beef-A-Reeno, which he feeds to Rusty, a horse that he is using to make some extra cash, which he borrowed from a friend. Kramer's job to help George was to take the Rosses around in the horse-drawn carriage, but b/c the horse was so gassy from the Beef-A-Reeno, the Rosses must return early, enabling them to catch George in the act of getting the rye, where the only explanation he can offer is "Schnitzer's".

Our Commentary

This ep is stimply hilarious and doesn't need an OCB or CCB to help it along. It just barely misses the Top 50, maybe it's #51. Hilarious stuff with Rusty, Frank's tie, $50 for a $6 rye, got me a marlin, Schnitzer's, etc. Overall, hilarious episode. Adam - Top 50 episode. Need I say more.
