An NYU reporter thinks J and G are gay, Elaine and Kramer are pretty unimportant. They both give Jerry a 2 line phone, but Kramer gives it first. Everything bad happens so that the NYU reporter thinks Jerry is gay. George tries to get rid of his gal in various ways, none of which work.
Our Commentary
Even though we are missing this OCB, we checked the script, and it seems hilarious. First of all, I always thought this was a Season 6 episode, which is a testament to its greatness. It didn't make the 2nd Siyum Top 50, but it certainly made its 3rd Siyum incarnation. This episode is simply hilarious. Besides this, it is also a monumentally important episode in the annals of Seinfeld due to its memorable line, "not that there's anything wrong with that/it". We also have a few links within and outside this ep, namely that Sharon from NYU is in That Old Feeling with Bette Midler, who not only appears later on in Seinfeld, but is also mentioned in this episode as the "gay" present given by Elaine to Jerry. Also, before we get into the ep, we have our first black owner of Monk's as well as first mentioning of NYU, my alma mater as of a week ago. Now, into the ep we go. Prototypical NYU dorm inhabited by Sharon as well as her NYU personality go well together with this episode which, like George, is steeped in gayness. LC does a magnificent job in this ep with great bits such as ugliest world leader, the whole "not that they're anything wrong with that/it", the whole thing of Jerry and George being gay, while Sharon drills them with questions unknowingly, specifically their meeting in gym class, the fruit, and the shirt. Also, when she asks if their parents know, Jerry, asks knows what, but classic George answers without thinking about the question, my parents, they don't know what's going on. Also, when George says that his father is gay is beautiful, which reminds me of when he says to the bubble boy that he has plenty of bubble experience. Beautiful linking to 4:11 The Contest with the good looking male nurse/female nurse bathing their respective gendered patients scene. Overall, just a magnificent episode. Adam - Hilarious, hilarious, hilarious, need I say more?
