The black owner of Monk's is so well known that he requires no name. He lives by a few rules: No syrup from outside places, especially Central Perk, no smoking in his restaurant b/c it's illegal and people don't like it, no calling repeatedly from supposed boyfriends of waitresses, and lastly, even if he knows you, you still better follow his rules, otherwise he'll turn you into his own personal hand puppet.

"If you boys, cannot control yourselves, then I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."
- Manager 4:17 The Outing

The character of the Owner of Monk's/Manager/Larry the Cook/Larry was introduced in 4:17 The Outing, as a multioccupational character who was in Monk's most of the time. Lawrence A. Mandley, who would go on to portray this hilarious character, was wanted back by audiences the world round, and so, he came back, 4 more times.

Besides that, Larry, as he is called in one episode by Kramer, believes that anything goes, as long as you don't keep him late with stupid questions, to which he retorts "Are we about through here?"
