DISCLAIMER: For some reason, unbeknownst to me, Kathleen Tracy says that The Clip Episode counts as only 1 episode, yet the eps that I have, and other episode guides I've seen on the internet, this is considered 2 episodes, Part 1 and Part 2. This obviously affects the numbering system here at the end. I will follow everyone else, except Tracy, and count it as 2 episodes. Therefore, there are 180 episodes, not 179. Also, as another proof that she is wrong is that Jerry says in the beginning of 9:22 The Clip Show Part 2 that there have been 180 episodes. (Although at this point we don't have the finale yet, making it 178 episodes, we must say that he meant that 180 episodes were filmed.)

Episode 22: The Clip Show Part 2

Episode #178; 9:22

Our Summary

We start this second part of the episode off with another intro by Jerry and then another host of clips all about relationships. The episode ends with a bunch of bloopers and then Time of Your Life by Greenday playing in the background with tons of sentimentality pervading every scene.

Our Commentary

Oh boy, oh boy. For all intents and purposes he was Egpyt with a capital E, this is the final episode in terms of tears, laughter, and nostalgia. In my mind, this is the final episode as it takes us down one more trip of Seinfeld memory lane, with all of the scenes being about relationships, which I must say the first part of this episode, 9:21 The Clip Show Part 1 was better, but still, this episode was hilarious, which is helped out in a big way by the bloopers at the end. However, this episode reaches the Top 50 solely by nostalgia and the intense feeling of sadness that I get everytime I hear Greenday's Time of Your Life, both b/c my tenure at HANC was ending and Seinfeld would no longer have any new episodes. We get to see Larry David hard at work instructing the cast about a particular scene. We get to see everyone being friends with each other and tons of camaraderie which I love. Some hilarious bloopers and the ending scene is just hilarious. All of that said, I want to note that there were many infamous and notorious scenes that were missing as well as many famous and cherished characters that were notably absent. Now, as the Superman/Jerry Seinfeld/American Express webmercial is entitled, Hindsight is 20/20, I see that they purposely left out all of those characters and scenes b/c they would be included as part of the court room scene in the very last episode, 9:24 The Finale Part 2. I wonder if I, or any other Seinfeld nuts noticed this when this episode was played that first time on NBC, especially since the finale had so many speculations. Also, nothing from one of my favorite characters, Steinbrenner! (Even though he's in 9:24 The Finale Part 2 for a second, but he's not in the syndicated version!) ANYWAY, great episode finished off this great season with only the finale to go.

177."The Clip Episode" (although I've seen "The Clip Show")(May 14, 1998)

SUMMARY Jerry looks back at nine years of memorable moments, ending with a series of bloopers.

OF SPECIAL NOTE This episode was forty-five minutes long. (I must add that this is without commercials, compared to the usual 22 minute episodes. Now, I don't remember if there were commercials during this episode, but if there were, I don't know why Tracy decided to say that this is a 45 minute episode instead of her usual "one hour long special" shtick she uses for other 2 part episodes.)
